Beating the Holiday Blues - some Tips to make the Holidays Brighter

As a caregiver, you have the opportunity to help your clients make their way through the holiday season without feeling left out and lonely.

You may notice that your clients seem a bit down in November and December. Here are a few ways to help beat the holiday blues during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season.

1. Get some fall colored construction paper and cut out leaves to hang around their room. At Christmas time, use red and green paper to make colorful paper chains.

2. Help the client make some festive placemats to use when they eat their meals. You can use construction paper or wrapping paper!

3. If possible, purchase a few boxes of Christmas cards. Ask if the client would like to send cards to friends or loved ones.

4. Invite the local school or church choir to visit and put on a mini-concert. Music is a proven spirit booster!

5. Most people have special memories of past holiday traditions. Give the gift of time by engaging someone in a conversation about their favorite memories.

You can make such a huge difference during the holiday months. Let your creative side shine and help beat those holiday blues.
